Whether your reading for fun or reading to pass time, here is a list of 4(technically 6) young adult books every person should have on their bookshelf.
I love reading so much. I think it's freaking awesome that you can sit in one spot and go on multiple adventures. Here's a combination of some of my favorite young adult books.
This series is set in a dystopian world where a damaged America is split into two countries, one called the Republic and the other called the Colonies where both are feuding for dominance.
The two main characters, a military prodigy named June Iparis and a criminal named Day, both live in the Republic minding their own business. Until, June's older brother is killed and Day is the prime suspect.
This trilogy is a heart-pumping roller coaster, whose plot will keep you guessing. If your a Hunger Games fan then you won't be disappointed.
This book is about a teenage boy named Quentin Jacobson, or "Q" who one night is woken up by an old friend and neighbor named Margo. The now popular Margo drags him along on a one night adventure of revenge to get back at her cheating ex. Right after, their adventurous night Margo goes missing and she has left Q clues of how to find her.
This is a journey of self-finding and the realization that sometimes the person that we see and who the person really is, are not the same people.
In this book you follow a teenage boy named Clay who is shaken by the suicide of a pier named Hanna Baker. A few days after her death he gets a box full of tapes. On the tapes he finds Hannah's voice recounting the people and the incidents, that finally pushed her to far.
13 Reasons Why is a painful and dark, but also suspenseful and compelling book, about a girl who fails to find the light. This is a book you need to read.(note: I wouldn't recommended this book for younger teens, because it has some inappropriate content)
This is a book narrated by a second generation Korean named Daniel and a illegal immigrant from Jamaica named Natasha. Daniel is trying to figure out what he is going to do with his life after he graduates high school. His Korean parents want him to go to college and become a doctor or a lawyer, but he loves English and poetry. Natasha knows exactly what she wants to do(science) and exactly what she believes. She's just trying to stay in the country that enables her to do so. One day the two teens clash together and they find something they weren't even looking for: love.
You may think this book is very political, but it isn't. It's simply about two people who are trying to get there lives on track. This book is insightful and it will resonate with you.
