Well. . .Long Time No See

It has been a hot minute since I last posted on this blog. Life has gotten crazy. I'm now a junior in college and dang, it's been a lot to say the least. I really miss writing whatever I feel like writing. I've gotten out of the habit of writing in a physical journal, and that seriously concerns me. The fact that it's easier for me to type my thoughts than it is to write them, I mean. That's scary. Regardless, I need to get back into the swing of writing. I must admit I did have a brief fling with WordPress. I still would love how to run that platform, but we have yet to see about that considering it is a different ball game and I've always been terrible at sports.     I've learned so many amazing things since I last posted. I've grown as an educator. That is so weird to type let alone think. When I started this blog I didn't even know I wanted to be an educator, and now it's become such a integral part of my identity. Isn't that funny how w...

A Discussion on Love (Talk 1: perspectives)

Love? What is this thing that people have written about, sang about, talked about, and experienced? Is it an emotion or a feeling? An action?  Is it a phenomenon? What is this thing that everyone wants, but doesn't actually know what it is?  Let's face it: we hear people all the time saying that love is the remedy to the world's problems blah blah blah etc. Yet, with all preaching we don't even know what we need; we don't know what love is. I think we once knew what it was, but got lost in all the commotion. We don't take time to understand what it is; we just regurgitate what somebody else says until it spirals beyond control, and we get caught up in our own mess; in our own lies. Wow, that was depressing. Anyway, I digress. So, on to the point, what is love? Personally, I think that pure, real, true love is out of human reach. I know what some of you are thinking, and you don't have to agree with me. So, chill out. Anyway, I believe this because I look aro...

These days he’d rather hide out from the world and leave his past behind. All that matters to him now is keeping Eden safe―even if that also means giving up June, the great love of Daniel’s life. As the two brothers struggle to accept who they’ve each become s...

A Disscusion on Tweak: Growing Up on Methamphetamine by Nic Sheff

I really enjoyed this book. It not only discusses the struggles of a drug addict, but the struggles we have as humans. This memoir resonated with me, and I think it will you too. In short, this should be a must read on everyone's list. It says and shows so many things that people deal with, and I found it to be a inciteful telling of what it's like to live. This book is a memoir by Nic Sheff. He goes through many traumatic things in which he constantly rejects as being bad or harmful. He writes form the start of the book, "So I just started smoking some pot and what harm could that do me anyway? H***, my dad used to smoke pot. Most everyone in my family did. Our friends did - it was totally accepted. But with me things were different. . .It just affected me in a way that didn't seem normal. . .My friend drank a little bit and stopped, unable to take anymore. The thing was I couldn't stop." We all do the same thing. We choose our own reality; most of ...

7 Quotes from The Rose Society by Marie Lu

"The irony of life is that those who wear masks often tell us more truths than those with open faces." "Sometimes, love can bloom like the tiny flower hidden in the tree's shadow, found only by those who know where to look." "They waged war for decades, never realizing that they were fighting for the same cause." "He wanted to live in a house built on a delusion, would rather believe in a million lies than face one truth." "It is better to have an enemy who will fight you in a open field than a lover who will kill you in your sleep." "'Now, are you happy? Have you finally achieved all you set out to do? What will you do next, little assassin, with no one left to see you?" "Such blinding dreams of white ice and spinning dice, I watched them all vanish in a trice. What will be your sacrifice?"

7 Quotes from The Young Elites by Marie Lu

" They think they can keep me out, but it does not matter how many locks they hang at the entrance. There is always another door."  "It is pointless to believe what you see, if you only see what you believe." " Once upon a winter I met a man in the woods  The man beckoned me over To see a satchel of goods He offered three wishes I asked for beauty, love, riches And he froze me in stone where I stood." "To love is to be afraid. You are frightened, deathly terrified, that something will happen to those you love. Think of the possibilities. Does your heart clench with each thought? That, my friend, is love. And love enslaves us all, for you cannot have love without fear." "Trust is when we plummet into the depths of an abyss and reach out for each other's hands." There are four places where the spirits still wander. . . the snow-covered Dark of Night, the forgotten paradise of Sabri Elan, the G...

Review - Five Feet Apart by Racheal Lippincott

I have read a lot of reviews about the movie adaption of this book. Unfortunately, they're not very positive, and, although, I have not seen the movie, I'm sure Hollywood did a magnificent job of butchering this beautiful story. If you have also read these reviews, please, don't let them deter you from reading this book, because I can assure you that this book is great(and probably much better than the movie.)       So, when I started reading this book I didn't like it. I'm sorry. I know, it's terrible. This fact really bummed me out, but now that I look back I actually like it better that way. I thought that Stella was really annoying at first because she was all about organization and control. Everything had to be exactly right, and her and her friends were really girly and giggly and obnoxious. And on top of all of that she has a YouTube channel for empowering all of those with cystic fibrosis (whoop-te-do.)    ...
